With the spread of COVID-19,great changes in social interaction has occurred all over the world. This pandemic led to the closure of universities and colleges around the world. Almost 1.2 billion students suffered from this. And as a result, there is a need of changing our teaching medium with e-learning.
What is E Learning?
E-learning is a learning environment which uses the information and communication technologies as a platform for teaching and learning activities.
In response to significant demand, many online learning platforms are offering free access to their services. E learning platform BYJU’s has seen a 200% increase in the number of new students using its product.
There is evidence that learning online can be more effective in a number of ways. It is a very convenient and flexible option for students. If student do not understand the topic in the first time, the video instructions that are provided for audio and video learning can be rewound, seen and heard again and again. And we can say that both students as well as teachers can be the part of education in easy way, and also by being in their comfort place.
Apart from lots of advantages there are still some challenges to overcome. No matter how simple a technology or plan is being used to provide education to all, some of the children will remain left out during critical situations due to multiple causes such as poverty, migration, family problems and so on. Some students without reliable internet access and technology struggle to participate in digital learning. And this the main reason that why classroom education comes in priority.
For making a continuous effort to provide customized teaching-learning material suitable for online classes is another way of facilitating the schooling of children. The Central government has recently launched the PM e-VIDYA platform, with 12 new DTH channels, one for each class to reach out to all strata of society.
And seeing both the advantages and disadvantages of e learning, a question arises in everyone’s mind, “What about post-pandemic? Will this method of teaching continue after the COVID 19 pandemic?” And at present we don’t even know the answer for this question. But one thing which we have realized during the duration of this pandemic is that “what will be the conditions, we are ready to face it with our full potential”
