Mental health, yes you read that right. Have you ever wondered why people commit suicide? I ASSUME your answer is probably NO. People globally commit suicide because they are struggling with themselves internally. I myself strongly believe that mental health is just as important as physical health. People often do yoga, go to gyms and perform various physical activities to keep themselves physically fit. But what about mental fitness? Neither many people talk about this topic and nor they give much importance to this rising issue.
For the last one year or so, I am seeing suicide rates are rising at a rapid speed. Ergo, it has become very important to spread some kind of awareness among people for the same. Nevertheless, let’s talk about what is mental health?
Mental Health – About
Mental health is something that affects our thinking capabilities. Moreover, it also strongly affects how an individual act in certain situations. Mental Health is, indeed, important from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.
Additionally, if mental health is disturbed at any point in life it will start changing the way you think, your mood, and how you react to any circumstances. Though there are bundles of factors that give rise to mental health issues the following are common factors –
- Life experiences – Trauma or abuse
- Biological – Genes or brain chemistry
- Family history of mental health issues
Certainly, help is available for the issue as well. You see, in today’s day and age, there is a solution for any problem out there. You just need to go out and seek it. People dealing with mental issues can get better gradually.
There are lots of people who do not realize that they are coping with mental health issues. Following are some early yet warning signs that indicate that you are having mental health issues-
- Sleeping/Eating too much or too little
- Staying away from people
- Feeling numb
- Have no/low on energy
- Always demotivated
- Feeling confused, forgetful, upset, angry too often
- Fighting with friends and family
- Living in some kind of dilemma
- Having severe mood swings
- Hearing voices and believing things that are not true
Why Mental Health is important?
Apparently, 450 million+ people are coping with this issue worldwide. However, there is a mantra in the National Institute of Mental Health. The mantra is “No health without mental health”.
Despite all this, there is a stigma in the mind of people. Many people often relate mental health with a person being a psychopath. However, due to this stigma, many people do not go out for help and are left untreated. As a result, they commit suicide.
In addition to this, Depression is one of the main causes of disability globally. It highly affects the person and their families physically, mentally, socially, and financially. Mental illness can affect anyone regardless of their age, gender, culture, etc.
In this section, I genuinely want to talk about what I think. According to me, the best exercise for the mind/brain one can do is MEDITATION. I am doing this for the last 3 years and trust me I’ve experienced massive change in myself.
Meditation will help you calm your mind. Moreover, you will get all the answers you are looking for in your life. Meditation will act as a guide in your tuff times. The feeling of meditation cannot be put into words. However, it is a feeling that one can experience himself/herself.
Nevertheless, in case of any kind of emotional breakdown please go out and seek help either of any counselors or your family and friends. Stop overthinking any stuff and do not ever think of ending your life. You see, life is very precious. It is a gift of God and you cannot end it like anything.
I personally believe in one quote – EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON.
Just take any motivational quote, stick to it and work hard and achieve your goals.
Be strong, be happy and Good luck!
