IPL (Indian Premier League) is being the entertaining people for the last 12 years. It was first held in the year 2008. IPL is the world’s richest T20 League. Above all ,the most attractive one was the IPL opening. Unfortunately, IPL is organized in UAE due to corona pandemic.  And there was no gala IPL opening too.

Generally, IPL starts in April and ends in May. But this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it started on 19th September, with a lot of rules which all the teams have to follow.


  • All the players and the supporting staff were in quarantine for 14 days after their landing in the UAE.
  • The hotels are equipped with amenities.
  • The 53-day tournament would be without spectators and glamour.
  • There are chances that after some time 30 percent of spectators will be allowed.
  • During the match, players will maintain social distancing.
  • Players must take care of themselves.

All the above rules created a lot of dissatisfaction among cricket lovers. But to reduce the dissatisfaction of cricket lovers, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is providing everyone the chance to enjoy matches while sitting in their home.


IPL 2020 kicked-off on 19th September 2020 in Abu Dhabi. Although, the IPL opening ceremony did not take place in this pandemic. Despite a lot of restrictions, the opening match turned into “The most-watched Opening day record of any sports league”. 20 crore people tuning into their television sets and online to watch the two IPL heavyweights face off.

 It was between the most popular teams: Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. The match was full of excitement.This kept the audience tied to their seats throughout the match.

Since, it was the first match of MS Dhoni, after the declaration of his retirement, there was a huge amount of Dhoni’s fans who were excited to see “the Captain Cool” back on the fields. And this was also the reason for such a huge amount of views for the match.

To encourage players, the concept of a virtual audience is used. The use of artificial crowd sound infuses in the live telecast of the match. By using this audience can become part of a live match.

After seeing the record-breaking views on the first day, broadcasters and sponsors are relaxed. As now, they can expect that this edition of IPL will not disappoint them.
