Pari Mahal also called the Palace of Fairies is a seven-terraced garden. It is one of the most popular tourist places to visit in Srinagar.
A tale of Pari Mahal
The angel’s adobe i.e. Pari Mahal is located at the top of the Zabarwan mountain range, southwest of dal lake. Besides, it is near Cheshmashahi, Srinagar, India. Pari Mahal garden is 5 km west of the center of Srinagar.
Mughal Prince Dara Shikoh built this amazing Palace. Prince Dara Shikoh is the elder son of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Currently, the state government of Jammu & Kashmir is operating this place. Pari Mahal was built in the year 1650 AD.
As per history, Dara Shikoh lived in this region in the years 1640, 1645, and 1654. And this palace served as a library and a place of residence for him.
Best time to visit this awesome place
The summer is the best season to visit Pari Mahal. The reason being, it’s dropping freezing temperature during winters. However, the garden is opened for public visits from 9.30 am till 5.30 pm. While touring Pari Mahal, tourists must carry their identity cards. Moreover, the garden remains closed on Fridays.

- First via Air: 24 km from Sheikh ul Alam International Airport Srinagar
- Second via Train: 22 km from Srinagar Railway Station
- Third via Road: 10 km from Lalchowk Srinagar
