Vijay Diwas is marked on 16 December in both India and Bangladesh. We celebrate Vijay divas for the victory of India over Pakistan in the 1971 war.
Besides, this day is for the tribute to our brave defense forces who sacrificed themselves for a good beginning. Above all, on this day Bangladesh was born. Hence, Bangladesh celebrates its independence on 16 December every year as Bijoy Dibos.

So, the chief of the Pakistan armed forces surrendered with any condition on 16 December 1971 to the joined forces involving the Indian Army and Mukti Bahini in Dhaka. Moreover, this war continues for 14 days. Consequently, the war resulted in the creation of East Pakistan into Bangladesh.
Therefore, this day is known as the Bangladesh Liberation War.

Also, on the 50th anniversary of the 1971 war between India and Pakistan, PM Narendra Modi light Swarnim Vijay Mashaal at the National War Memorial. In addition, PM Modi honored this day by paying tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation.
On the occasion of Vijay Divas, President Ram Nath Kovind said, let us remember the courage of our soldiers who are strongly committed to defend our sovereignty and protect human dignity. Further, he said, their martyrdom in the 1971 war had shown supreme bravery & ability of our forces. The nation is eternally indebted to them in his tweet.
