PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the Expressway Project in Azamgarh in July 2018. So, it took around three years to complete the mega-development project.

Furthermore, the Purvanchal Expressway connects Lucknow to the Eastern Region of Uttar Pradesh via Azamgarh.

How will this Expressway improve connectivity?

The mega-development Expressway project connects the capital Lucknow to Eastern UP. It also connects UP to the National Capital via Agra-Lucknow and Yamuna Expressway.

The major districts that fall by the Purvanchal Expressway Corridor are Lucknow, Sultanpur, Amethi, Ayodha, Azamgarh, Mau, Barabanki, and Ghazipur.

According to the Government, the Expressway Corridor will boost the economic development of Eastern parts of UP.

The corridor has 22 flyovers, 7-railway- over-bridges, also known as (ROB). It also has 7 major bridges and 114 minor bridges. And 6 toll plazas, 45 vehicular-underpass (VUP), 139 Light VUP, 87 pedestrian underpasses.

The expressway will also have CNG stations, electric recharge stations, and other facilities.
