Uttar Pradesh: PM Modi to lay the foundation stone to the Noida International Airport

Uttar Pradesh is soon going to be the only state in the entire country with five International airports.

PM Narendra Modi will lay the foundation brick of the International Airport on Thursday. The Noida International Airport or (NIA) is in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh.

Why is the development of the airport significant?

The Noida International Airport is in line with the PM’s vision of boosting connectivity in northern India. And to create a future-ready aviation sector.

Recently, Uttar Pradesh saw the inauguration of the new Kushinagar International Airport at Ayodha. Along with several other development projects, the International Airports hold a special significance.

The inauguration of the International Airport is scheduled for 25th November, at 1 PM. Also, the development of the first part of the project will cost around 10,050 crores.

Highlights of the Noida International Airport Project:

  • The project spreads over more than 1,300 hectares of land. With the completion of the first phase of the airport, the capacity to serve will be 1.2 crore passengers a year.
  • The expected deadline for completion is by 2024.
  • The Zurich Airport International AG will execute the project.
  • According to an official statement, the groundwork for the first phase of the project is successfully over.
  • And the rehabilitation of the affected families has been taken care of.
  • NIA is the second international airport to come up in Delhi-NCR. So it will aid to decongest the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
  • The NIA is located strategically. And, it will connect Delhi, Noida, Aligarh, Agra, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and the neighbouring cities.
  • Also, the NIA to be Logistics Gateway for Northern India.
  • Moreover, due to its capacity, it will prove to be a game-changer for Uttar Pradesh.
  • Thus, for the first time in India, an airport will have an integrated multi-modal cargo hub. And it will aim at reducing the total cost and time involved for logistics.
  • Furthermore, the cargo terminal will have a capacity of 20 metric tonnes. And the capacity can be increased up to 80 lakh metric tonnes.
  • Interestingly, the airport will be India’s first net-zero emissions airport.

To sum up, Uttar Pradesh is witnessing several development projects. The development of International Airports will give a boost to the aviation industry.

For now, the countdown is for the PM to inaugurate the project on the coming 25th of November.
