‘Nestle: Good Food, Good Life’ – How Good Is There Food Actually?
One of the world’s largest food and beverages companies Nestle has once again caused a stir! This time it is because of the quality of the food products that they deliver. ‘Nestle: Good food, good life- is under question as an international media report claims that Nestle Products are Unfit for consumption.
The Nestle Food Quality Report
A report by UK Business Daily, Financial Times, claims that a presentation done for the executives had a report wherein they accepted 40% of their food products are unhealthy! This presentation took place in early 2021. The list of food products under the research did not include baby products, pet food, and other medical nutrition supplements! Further, the reports state that around 70% of the total food and drink products manufactured by the company lie below the benchmark.
Though, dairy products and water are comparatively safer, as stated by the reports. However, the beverages aren’t safe and 90% of the beverage items fall below the recognized benchmark!
Nestle’s Reply
One of the largest food manufacturers admitted to the reports. In a global press release, Nestle said that giving the customers good food is their priority! Good food essentially means nutrient-rich food. Thus, they are trying to improve the quality of nutrition! The Presentation with the executives was done for the same cause.
The company also said that there are certain food products, whose quality cannot be improved, no matter how they renovate the product! In defense, Nestle also claimed that it has reduced the sugar and sodium percentage in its food products considerably! For example, these not-so-good chemicals have gone down by around 15% in the last 7 years itself!
Interestingly, ‘Nestle: Good food, Good Life’- the motto of the company has always been questionable! Still, Nestle has a huge market in India. With products like Maggi, KitKat, and Nescafe- the company has been gaining a good amount of profit! It has also promised a new unit in Gujarat and is looking forward to investing Rs. 2,600 Crores in India in the next 3 to 4 years.
Amidst these reports questioning the quality of the food from Nestle, it’ll be interesting to see how things turn out!
