Ford to stop manufacturing cars in India from 2022

Ford (US car giant) is going to stop manufacturing cars in India. Ford is going to shut its both plants in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat.
Moreover, the company stated that they will close both plants in the second quarter of 2022. However, the company will continue making car engines for export. Back in 2017, one more company i.e GM (General Motors) stopped making cars for the Indian market. Despite this, Harley Davidson too stopped manufacturing bikes in India last year.

Ford encountered around $2bn loss over the past decade. Moreover, the demand for new vehicles also decreased.
However, the company stated that they will continue providing maintenance services as well as parts and warranty support to the existing customers. The company further stated that they are providing cars in the Indian market for the last 25 years. Unfortunately, they are struggling to give competition to other companies.
