Kerala Has Least Covid Antibodies, Madhya Pradesh Has Highest: ICMR
According to the survey, Kerala has least covid antibodies presence of 44% among 21 States studied. Madhya Pradesh has the highest presence of antibodies against the novel coronavirus of 79%.
The fourth round of national serosurvey where conducted which include two-third of the population. The survey was conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The survey done between June 14 to July 6.
Prevalence get declare on Wednesday. According to which Madhya Pradesh has the highest presence of antibodies with 79%. Kerala has least covid antibodies presence of 44% among 21 States studied.
Kerala is witnessing a sharp increase in covid-19 cases. Also, Kerala reports 50% of India’s covid cases. Also, The survey data shows that 56% of people in Kerala lacked antibodies and remained exposed to the infection.
Furthermore, the survey shows that MP with seroprevalence of 79%. Then Comes Rajasthan 76%, then Bihar 75%, then Kerala has least covid antibodies presence 44% after this Assam 50% and Maharashtra 58%.
‘partial’ picture
One official from ICMR claims that this survey gives a ‘partial’ picture of how they are affecting. The estimation has 70 districts in 21 states. Also, These states were also part of three previous rounds of the survey.
Samiran Panda, involved in the survey and head of the epidemiology division at the ICMR said. “ the districts were chosen by population. that is why some States included more places Which are more represented”.
Why are serology surveys important?
On Wednesday central government it advised all the states and union territories to conduct the surveys with the help of ICMR. This will help to generate district-level data. Furthermore, it will help to implement localized Public Health response measures, stated in a letter by Rajesh Bhushan health secretary, on Wednesday.
