Nana Patole: Modi Rule is no different from British Raj
Recently, state Congress President Nana Patole made a big statement saying that the country’s condition is no better than what it was during the British Raj.
Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee launched a fortnight-long campaign, “Vyarth Na Ho Balidan” (The sacrifices should not go in vain). The event commemorates 75 years of India’s Independence. While launching the campaign, Patole said that the present central government was exploiting the country.
Organized at Kesari Wada in Pune, the place from where Bal Gangadhar Tilak ran his daily Kesari. Senior City Congress leaders, including Vishwajeet Kadam, Abhay Chhajed, Mohan Joshi, and Ramesh Iyer, attended the event.
Patole also criticized the Maharashtrian Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari for taking a political stand and criticizing great political leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru.
Jawaharlal Nehru is the architect of Modern India. But according to Koshiyari, Nehru was responsible for destroying India. Congress condemns this thought of the Governor. Moreover, the Governor holds a position where he should not take political sides.
Patole has an allegation that Koshiyari has turned the Raj Bhavan into a BJP association.
The Congress leaders fiercely fought against the oppression of the British rulers. Today, India stands at a state where Congress needs to fight against the oppressions of the Modi Government. Under the BJP government, the right to freedom of speech and expression is being curbed. Also, those trying to expose the government are targeted. The latest victim is Dainik Bhaskar.
Under the campaign of Vyarth Na Ho Balidan, the Congress leaders will put hoarding of the Non-cooperation Movement, Civil Disobedience Movement, and Quit India Movement with some others. Also, the hoardings will display the pictures of Mahatma Gandhi as a prisoner in Yerwada Jail.
Patole thinks that others see him as a person who makes strong statements. Moreover, he is a person who takes a firm stand on issues.
Patole mentioned that in the Pre-Independence Congress party there were two sets of leaders. The moderates having people like Gandhi as their leaders and the headliners having Tilak and Lala Lajpat Rai.
According to Patole, he belongs to the latter group. He believes he is a headliner and that the battle lies ahead of us. In this battle, we will need both moderates and hardliners.
