Increase In Suicide Rate: Another Life Comes To An End
When compared to 2018, an increase of 3.4 % was observed in the suicide rate in India during 2019.
National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) recorded the number of suicides in 2019 to be one lakh population of 41.2 in India.
World Health Organisation (WHO) estimated that every year more people died of suicide instead of Malaria, HIV, or any other disease.
WHICH AGE GROUP INCREASES THE SUICIDE RATE IN INDIA ?
India records the highest suicide rate among the age group of 15 to 29. NCRB states the rate of suicide to be is higher in cities when compared to all –India (2019).In certain areas suicide rate is higher among women. According to a study, Vellore (Tamil Nadu) records 48 percent per lakh cases.
NEET Aspirant Kanimozhi K Commits Suicide
Kanimozhi K a NEET aspirant committed suicide. She was from the Ariyalur district of Tamil Nadu who topped in the 12TH board examination. Afraid that she might not be able to crack the NEET exam she committed suicide.
Another NEET aspirant Dhanush from Salem hung himself to death after giving the 2021 exam.
Due to these cases, DMK government has passed a bill to exempt Tamil Nadu from NEET.
