India’s legend PT Usha requests Kerala CM to vaccinate athletes before others

India’s athletic pride PT Usha has requested the CM of Kerela Pinarayi Vijayan to vaccinate sportspersons and their support personnel on priority. These athletes will be participating in the coming national and international competitions. And will represent India on an international level.

However, up till now approximately 120 players and 27 para-athletes have received their first dose. And around 58 athletes and 4 para-athletes have received their second dose.

Around 114 coaches and support staff have received their first dose. And 37 of them have received their second dose also. Only 5 Olympic athletes are yet to receive their first dose. further, these 5 athletes were covid positive and have recovered. As per ANI

In response to PT Usha’s tweet Indian Olympic Association president Narinder Batra has said that in Tokyo Olympics the players will be tested for Covid. But he has also added that why to wait for any such situation. It is our duty to get vaccinations for all the athletes as soon as possible.

This concern of legend PT Usha seems right when the Tokyo Olympics is expected to begin on July 23 2021. This International sports event was supposed to happen last year but was postponed due to the pandemic.
