Mysterious Tunnel found in Delhi Legislative Assembly

On Thursday, a tunnel-like structure was found in the Delhi Legislative Assembly. The mysterious tunnel connects the Delhi Legislative Assembly with the Red Fort. As per the reports, the tunnel was used during the British regime. They used the tunnel to move the freedom-fighter prisoners. It was used to prevent any reprisal.

The Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel informed the press about the tunnel. He told that when he became an MLA back in 1993, he had heard people talk about the tunnel. But, no one ever investigated the case.

Now, the mouth of the mysterious tunnel has been found in one of the rooms of the Delhi Assembly. However, the investigating team did not dig further. This is because a lot of the tunnel pathway has been destroyed by the construction work done during the Metro Projects and sewer installations.

The Delhi Government plans to refurbish it soon.

After which it will be opened for the public. Hopefully, the renovation will be complete by August 15 next year.

The Delhi Legislative Assembly was the Central Legislative Assembly after the capital shifted from Kolkata to Delhi in 1912. The Delhi Legislative Assembly speaker Goel informed that the assembly was turned into a court in 1926. Therefore, the Britishers used this tunnel to bring freedom fighters to the court.

He further said that there were talks about the presence of a gallows room here. But nobody ever opened it. Now, since it is the 75th year of independence so it was decided to inspect the rumored room. The Delhi Government had planned to change that room into a shrine of freedom fighters. This was to give a tribute to them.

The place has a great history in the context of the freedom struggle. Therefore, the Delhi Government intends to renovate it so that tourists and visitors can get a reflection of this unforgettable and magnificent history.
