Instagram to Show Ads in Reels, Read Details here
Facebook-owned giant Instagram will start showing you ads in Reels. Yes, you read that right. Now, you won’t be able to enjoy Instagram Reels like before, as it will start showing you ads, thus, spoiling your experience.
After testing this feature in a few countries, Instagram has rolled out ads in Instagram Reels worldwide. Now, as you may imagine, these would be full-screen ads, similar to the ones visible on Instagram Stories.
As per the company, the ads can be a maximum of 30 seconds long and users will be able to comment, like, view, save, and share Reels with others. Further, Instagram has revealed that ads will appear in the most popular places for better reach and easy accessibility to users.
Some of these places include Reels in stories, Reels in Explore, the Reels tab, and Reels in your feed.
A new window will open that will show the Reels vertically if a user clicks on an ad in either of these places on Instagram.
The social media giant had tested this feature earlier this year in select countries, including Germany, Australia, India, and Brazil. Later on, the company tested it in countries like France, Canada, the UK, and the US.
Now, after testing ads in Reels, Instagram is rolling out the feature worldwide. Recently, many brands have adopted such marketing techniques. Some of these popular brands are BMW, Nestle, Netflix, Uber, and Louis Vuitton.
Instagram already shows ads in feed, stories, and posts. Now, you will see the annoying Reels ads as well. How are you feeling about this new addition to the app? Do share it in the comments section.
Ads in Reels: Company’s Take
As per the company’s blog, “Just like any other ad on Instagram, we will also provide people with controls on the Reels ads they see. If people see an ad they don’t like, they can skip the ad, or tap the menu on the post to hide or report it.”
Launched as a TikTok rival back in 2020 in India, Reels has soon become the go-to place for all the TikTokers and short-video content creators. However, as compared to TikTok, the growth of Reels hasn’t been much in the country.
So, what do you think of the new ads situation in Reels? Are you going to use it anyway or look for any other alternatives? Do let us know in the comments below.
